A juicer machine is a wonderful domestic appliance which can easily juice both fruits and vegetables. Gone are the days of hand squeezing oranges and leaving half the juice behind and welcome to the world of vegetable juices as well.
In today’s market there are three different machines available, the oldest design in the centrifugal machine, then there are newer designs; masticating and auger press with either single or dual augers. Many people still confuse a juicer machine with a blender, they are very different; a juicer juices and a blender blends.
The description of the juicing method pretty well describes how the different devices and designs work. The centrifugal juicer spins the vegetable or fruit once it has been pulverized; the masticating juicer uses a slow speed motor to masticate the product and the single or dual auger presses force the juice out, leaving behind all the skin and pulp.
Every type of juicer seems to have its pros and cons. Centrifugal juicers are by far the most popular because they are the least expensive. This design is great for extracting the juice from almost any fruit or vegetable but have a hard time extracting the juice from leaf foods such as lettuce. For extracting juice from these leafy veggies perhaps a special juicer made for wheatgrass is better. Centrifugal juicers are fast but they do not extract all the juice as do the other types.
Masticating juicers and auger juicers extract more juice and they can juice just about any fruit, veggie or leaf plant that you want. These units operate at significantly lower speeds which means less foam in the juice. It is the air that makes up the foam that is detrimental to the juice shelf life; the less air the longer the life of the juice.
There are some people who consider a juicer machine to actually be too efficient and extract all the pulp which is actually a very healthy component of the fruit. This is really not a problem as the pulp goes into a removable bin in the machine and can be added back into the juice as desired.
Juicers are becoming increasingly popular as more and more people are finding the benefits of healthy living, starting first thing in the morning alongside a cup of tea or coffee.
